Day nurseries provide childcare for babies and children up to 5 years of age (although many offer additional services such as before and after school clubs or holiday clubs for school aged children). They usually provide childcare from around 8am to around 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Day nurseries in Wales must be registered and inspected by CIW. Some day nurseries in Torfaen are also registered nursery education providers which means that parents/carers of 3 and 4 year old children can receive funding from the Local Authority towards the cost of the childcare place if they choose for their child to take up their nursery education place at the day nursery.
